About DWT ARTWORK
I have been painting seriously since 2008 and started out doing whatever I thought might be worth painting. At first it was simple scenery and then some more complex detailed landscapes which I painted in great detail so as to look like photos I had taken. But I was not satisfied with simply painting whatever I could take a photograph of, instead I wanted to paint more interesting artworks that were from my own perspective. I have always liked the way lines and patterns fit into the landscape and have a love of geography, especially rivers. As a result I started to look at the shapes and lines that naturally occur around us in Canada and from that I started painting the lines I saw forming shadows on fresh snow in the woods behind my house. I then considered the lines and patterns formed by Canadian geography and the beauty that I saw in those lines and patterns. That resulted in my painting abstract river paintings in order to highlight the shapes and patterns formed in the Canadian and American landscapes. I paint because I enjoy it and hope that anyone viewing my paintings will both enjoy the paintings and gain an appreciation for the shapes and patterns created all around us.
